14. JOHN C. SANTOMIERI

BUFFALO, NY

"Cultivating Weeds" is an installation of living garden fragments lit by various floor and table lamps to aid/conflict phototropic plant development. It is part of the artist's larger attempt to define the modern person and landscape as commodity, using plant-based mediums and classic design-experiment methods to generate tertiary perspectives on human presence.

John combines art and horticulture in his commentary on the human landscape. His work is a visual hypothesis of sustainability and futurist philosophies conjured to expand awareness of an organic vernacular.
