11. VIRGINIA MELNYK
One of the largest classrooms becomes a playful, star-shaped environment of bold colors.
Virginia is an Architect/Artist and her work is inspired by the design field of architecture, but is based in large scale temporal art installations. Her work explores the use of non-building materials to generate new conceptual spaces and she often uses off the shelf objects, or textiles such as stretchy spandex in bright colors like you see here. She utilizes computational architectural design programs and then fabricates the pieces by hand through traditional crafting and building techniques.
